STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Over 1,200 residents have lost power on Staten Island amid a storm packing gusty winds and heavy rain.
According to Con Edison’s outage map , approximately 1,255 customers are without service on Staten Island around 11:55 a.m. Thursday morning.
Large outages have been reported across the borough, including in Eltingville, Bay Terrace, Oakwood and Travis.
As a result of a power outage at Monsignor Farrell High School, students are being dismissed at noon.
Con Edison expects power to be restored to these homes by 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
These outages come amid a storm packing gusts forecast to reach around 40 mph and rainfall expected to amount to between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain.
