Metro’s plan for greater housing density opens neighborhoods to more problems
The continuation of a Davidson County norm – single-family housing – is being put to the test by four bills scheduled for consideration on second reading Tuesday night by the Metro Council, all aimed at creating more and denser housing for Nashville’s growing population.
Perhaps the biggest change of the four is a bill that would allow detached accessory dwelling units (DADUs) on most properties in Davidson County with no mechanism for neighborhoods to disallow them. Those backyard dwellings could then be used for short- or long-term rentals.
And if a community meeting on the subject in Bellevue earlier this week is any indication, Davidson County residents are unhappy about the proposals and ready for Metro C
