New Hampshire House Republican leaders said they are working on 2026 legislation to “hold the judicial system accountable” in the wake of one Supreme Court justice returning to the bench right after a misdemeanor conviction and Chief Justice Gordon MacDonald facing scrutiny for his alleged role in helping to secure a $50,000 cash payout for his former chief of staff.
House Deputy Majority Leader Joe Sweeney, R-Salem, refused to name individual judges that could be linked to these legislative efforts on the judicial branch.
“We will come up with different plans for different judges,” Sweeney said, declining to be more specific.
