BELL COUNTY, Texas (KXXV) — Before you toss out your pumpkins after Halloween, consider donating them.

The Bell County Animal Shelter is seeking clean pumpkins that are mold free and have not been treated with chemicals.

Pumpkins are safe for many animals in moderation. They also provide fun, nutritional enrichment.

Pumpkins of all sizes are accepted at 2509 S Loop 121 in Belton between 12 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and Sunday, and 10:30 - 3:30 p.m. every other day of the week.
