ALBANY, N.Y. — A house fire that killed five people in Albany earlier this month is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
According to News10 , Albany police announced that the Oct. 6 fire on Twiller Street that killed five people, including three children, has been ruled arson and is now considered a homicide investigation.
The fire claimed the lives of two men — Eric Peterson, 47, and Erick DeCamp, 52 — and DeCamp’s three children: Annie, 6; Leroy, 4; and Joanie, 3.
Albany Fire Chief Joseph Gregory said one of the men used a wheelchair, which may have made escaping the home more difficult.
Neighbors told the Times Union that generations of the family had lived at 23 Twiller St. and that they were good neighbors who mostly kept to themselves.
