Not long after LSU fired Brian Kelly this past Sunday , Kelvin Sheppard was floated as a possible successor to the ousted coach.

Despite the fact Sheppard is only seven games into his tenure as the rookie defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, it made sense. After all, Sheppard was once an all-conference linebacker for the SEC power. He also served on staff there after segueing into coaching following a playing career that spanned eight NFL seasons

But whether Sheppard would want the head job at his alma mater is uncertain.

“I can’t be interested in something I have no idea about,” Sheppard, 37, said.
