Federal food assistance benefits are set to be cut off Nov. 1 amid the second longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
In Louisville, food pantries that are already experiencing shortages are anticipating an uptick in need as the U.S. Department of Agriculture pauses funding through the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, which supports nearly 600,000 people across the commonwealth .
The Courier Journal would like to hear from Kentuckians who are affected by the cutoff, including residents who receive SNAP, nonprofits working to distribute food donations and businesses that accept EBT cards, as well as anyone else who may have information to share.
