Harris County commissioners on Thursday signaled support for using eminent domain to acquire nearly 9 acres of Houston park land for the expansion of Ben Taub Hospital, one of two level-one trauma facilities in the region.

Commissioners voted unanimously to direct Harris Health to hold additional community meetings before they make a final vote on whether to allow the county’s heath entity to continue with eminent domain proceedings for part of Hermann Park, which is controlled by the city of Houston.
