More Massachusetts cannabis retailers surrendered their licenses in fiscal year 2025 than in the previous seven years since the industry began in the state.
In fiscal year 2025, which spanned July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, 13 retail licenses were surrendered, revoked or not renewed, according to data from the Cannabis Control Commission. Prior to July 2024, just nine total retail licenses were surrendered since the first shops opened in 2018.
