CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hundreds of thousands of people in the Tri-State Area are at risk of losing food assistance as the federal government shutdown continues with no signs of ending anytime soon.

Residents who typically receive SNAP, WIC and TANF benefits will no longer get the aid they need starting Nov. 1.

Although national, state and local lawmakers scramble to find ways to ensure people can still get the food and resources they need, not everyone agrees on the same methods.

Thousands in federal funding redirected to Freestore Foodbank

On Thursday, Hamilton County Commissioners adopted a resolution to redirect $222,954.66 in federal funds to the Freestore Foodbank, a nonprofit food assistance program.
