WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump administration finalized new rules Thursday for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which allows for people working in fields benefitting public good such as healthcare, education and firefighting to have their student loans forgiven after 10 years of on-time payments.
Under the new rules, many organizations and loan borrowers may lose eligibility.
The final document outlining the rules from the Department of Education says that organizations will be exempt who participate in “specific enumerated activities such that they have a substantial illegal purpose.”
