BENTON, La. – A now-former Bossier Parish school teacher has been arrested on abuse and child assault charges.

Bossier Parish sheriff’s investigators arrested Jamie Duncan Gallant, 34, Wednesday on charges of domestic abuse and aggravated assault against a child.

No details of the alleged offense were provided; however, it did not involve her students.

Bossier Schools spokeswoman Sonja Bailes released the following statement in response to Gallant’s arrest:

“Bossier Schools became aware late yesterday afternoon of this individual’s arrest. While the alleged incident occurred outside of school hours and was unrelated to her duties as an educator, she is no longer employed with the district.
