Beyond all the Halloween fun today, a festival in downtown Oklahoma City this weekend will continue another special celebration that happens each year across Latin America – the Day of the Dead.

The day, translated as Día de los Muertos , is generally a colorful, meaningful way of honoring loved ones who have died.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, Scissortail Park will be the scene for the “ Festival de Vida y Muerte ” – Festival of Life and Death – organized by Tango PR and presented by Supermercados Moreleos. Last year’s festival welcomed more than 15,000 attendees for the showcase of music, dance, art and culture.

Sunday’s festival from noon to 9 p.m. in the park will conclude with a full performance of the Oklahoma City Ballet ‘s “Día de Muertos Ballet” at 7 p.m., along with a special
