The Detroit Tigers are looking to reload after some big expectations ended in a disappointing playoff exit, and their latest move was a bit of a surprise.
The Tigers led the American League for much of this past season before a sudden collapse pushed them into a wild card matchup with the rival Cleveland Guardians. They won that series before falling in the division round to the Seattle Mariners.
Now the team will be taking a close look at its roster to see where it might improve toward its first World Series championship in more than four decades. And it has already made a couple of transactions involving long-time New York Mets catcher Tomas Nido.
