SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A mobile food pantry that served downtown Sioux City held its final distribution on Thursday after 20 years of operation.
The Midtown Family Community Center’s (MFCC) mobile food pantry has seen increased demand over the past year, serving more than 1,000 families monthly. The Food Bank of Siouxland said it can no longer support the mobile pantry due to operational challenges.
Janet King, who led the mobile food pantry for two decades and is currently President of MFCC, stepped down for personal reasons.
“There’s such a big need here in Sioux City for people for food,” King said. “I need to take care of family, and I’m heartbroken about having to end this.”
The pantry operated from a parking lot at 12th and Pierce Street for the last five years. Before that, it was
