For the second time since 2024, a motion is set to come before council to declare the municipality an unwilling host for future wind farm projects.
Chatham Coun. Amy Finn will enter the motion Monday, however, it will require a motion to reconsider in order to make it on the floor.
This is because council defeated North Kent Coun. Rhonda Jubenville’s similar motion in July of last year. It fell in a 3-11 vote.
“I believe with over 500 windmills already in Chatham Kent, we have done our fair share,” Finn told The Daily News on Thursday.
“The area that was chosen (in the recent proposal) is similar to North Kent and we know what happens to the aquifer when it’s disturbed and the devastation to some wells.
