GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A Greensboro woman studying at North Carolina A&T State University is stranded in Jamaica.
Hurricane Melissa tore through the island on Tuesday. Gift Obimma said conditions are slowly improving, but life there is still far from normal.
Obimma was supposed to land at the Piedmont Triad International Airport on Wednesday night. Now, she is riding out the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa with a limited amount of water, power and food.
"In the front, it’s a lot of mud, debris, trees knocked down. It’s not walkable, so they do have everything taped off. Some of the roof has caved in,” Obimma said.
Obimma is at a resort in Montego Bay.
