ROUND ROCK, Texas – Huston-Tillotson University’s women’s soccer team concluded its regular season Monday and claimed one of the HBCU Athletic Conference’s top seeds in the league’s tournament as West Division champions.
The Rams claimed the conference’s West Division championship and a bye in the first round of the conference tournament despite a 3-2 setback at home to Wiley on Monday.
Trailing 2-0 after halftime, the Rams (6-6-1, 3-1 HBCUAC) got a pair of quick goals from Kayla Evans and freshman Imeri Hernandez a little more than three minutes apart. Evans struck first with her seventh goal of the season in the 56th minute and then assisted on Hernandez’ third goal of the year shortly before the hour mark.
