Former Australian opener Marcus Harris has benefited from a shift in the batting order for Victoria, hitting a century against Tasmania on day three of their Sheffield Shield clash.

Harris wasn't the only Victorian who reached the milestone with his teammate Campbell Kellaway scoring 147.

It's Harris that will bring the most attention though as Australia searches for an opener.

However, the 33-year-old has made a shift to the middle order, batting at No.3 in the first innings and scoring 11 before moving further down to No.6 due to a sore back and finishing 101 not out.

Victoria declared at 5-330 with Tasmania 1-28 at stumps needing 327 runs to win.

Harris explained to reporters the change in the batting order came from a conversation earlier this year.
