A Malaga man accused of stabbing another man with a knife in June was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison.
Federico Javier Bernal Jimenez, 31, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault after police say he stabbed a man on the 1500 block of South Wenatchee Avenue the morning of June 12.
The victim was treated at the Central Washington Hospital after sustaining a “puncturing stab wound that created a severe loss of blood” and being chased by Bernal-Jimenez for at least an eighth of a mile, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Chelan County Superior Court.
Chelan County prosecutors originally charged Bernal-Jimenez with first-degree assault but lowered the charge by a degree as part of his plea deal.
