The local New Democratic Party is planning a rally outside the counties council chamber next Tuesday morning to coincide with crucial discussions on the fate of a Brockville homeless shelter.

The NDP is the latest organization to join calls to keep the Co-Operative Care Centre open, as it faces the loss of counties funding at the end of the year.

“We just want to show the community is behind this,” Chris Wilson, president of the Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes provincial NDP riding association, as well as its federal counterpart, said Thursday.
