COLUMBUS — U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) would face a steeper uphill battle to win re-election under a bipartisan congressional map proposed by the members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission on Thursday.
Ms. Kaptur’s 9th Congressional District currently includes a slight advantage for Republicans, but the new map would create a district with a built-in Republican advantage of 9 percentage points — 54.5 percent to 45.5 percent — according to data provided by the office of Ohio Redistricting Commission Co-Chairman Rep. Brian Stewart (R., Ashville).
The plan would add Paulding, Henry, and Putnam counties to the district, while removing Sandusky County.
