COLUMBIA, S.C. — As the federal government shutdown continues, some parents are growing concerned about how it could impact school meals.

Richland One Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker sent a letter to families Wednesday, warning that funding for federal child nutrition programs is only guaranteed through October unless Congress restores appropriations. Those programs include the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and the Summer Food Service Program.

Despite that warning, district leaders say students will continue to receive meals without interruption.
