(WYMT) - The SNAP program is at the forefront of many people’s minds right now with the federal government shutdown continuing for one month and benefits possibly running out this weekend.

In some areas, community members are coming together to support one another, and food banks are doing what they can to stay full.

Michael Halligan with God’s Pantry Food Bank said Eastern Kentuckians can rest assured that they will do what they can to continue supporting folks who need food.

“I think it’s really important for someone who’s experiencing food insecurity. God’s Pantry Food Bank and the more than 500 food pantry meal programs that we work with, we’re here to provide assistance,” said Halligan.
