CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Yaron Weitzman, author of “A Hollywood Ending, the Dreams and Drama of the LeBron Lakers” told 19 News that the Cavs had a trade in place for Paul George in 2017 that may have altered the history of several franchises.
The deal would’ve kept Kyrie Irving in Cleveland, added George from Indiana and sent Kevin Love to Denver.
Weitzman writes that LeBron James pushed for the deal after a productive dinner with George in Los Angeles.
Ultimately, Indiana president Kevin Pritchard killed the deal.
As Weitzman puts it in his book, the trade’s collapse was “one phone call away from a dynasty.”
Irving would later ask for a trade out of Cleveland, which sent him to Boston.
