FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KTFA) — Dr. Andrew Fidler was appointed as the state veterinarian on Monday.
The state veterinarian is the highest-ranking veterinary official in the state, the State of Arkansas website said. The website also said the top vet is responsible for the oversight of health programs, disease prevention and control, and livestock industry regulations.
"Dr. Fidler brings extensive experience in animal health, regulatory science, and agricultural research that will be invaluable to the Department and to Arkansas’s livestock and poultry industries," Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward said. "Animal health is vital to the success of Arkansas agriculture, and we look forward to his leadership as we continue supporting producers across the state."
