GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – State and local leaders are sounding the alarm after learning that FoodShare benefits for nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites will be delayed in November because of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Officials gathered outside Green Bay City Hall Thursday morning to raise awareness about the impact the delay will have on families, food pantries, and local resources.
FoodShare provides grocery assistance to low-income households across the state — including more than 260,000 children.
District 7 Alderperson Alyssa Proffitt said the situation is keeping her up at night, knowing that thousands of Brown County residents may soon be without support.
