The association that represents Montana’s cattle ranching industry — one of the most important economic drivers in the state — has come out strongly in opposition to plans by President Donald Trump to import huge quantities of beef from Argentina in order to lower prices for U.S. consumers.
Quite a few longtime beef producers across the state are against Trump’s stance on the issue as well, and Montana’s delegation to U.S. Congress have conveyed ranchers’ concerns to Trump.
“I don’t agree with them importing beef,” said Wayne Blevins, who owns and operates Blevins Angus Ranch near Charlo with his family. “If they start importing beef, prices are going to go down.”
