OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) -- The first renewable natural gas facility in the Tri-State is now operational in Owensboro.
Thursday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Daviess County landfill to celebrate the achievement. Officials say the project will capture landfill gas and convert it into renewable natural gas.
Officials go on to say it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide the landfill with additional revenue. The facility is able to supply natural gas for 10 to 11 thousand homes per year.
