COBB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Cobb County commissioners are set to discuss and potentially implement a new stormwater fee aimed at addressing the county’s aging and insufficient infrastructure.

The proposed fee, which could more than double the current allocation for stormwater management, is expected to be debated next week, with a possible vote later in November.

The initiative aims to raise funds to address the growing backlog of maintenance and repair work within the county’s stormwater system.

Judy Jones, director of Cobb County Water Systems and a 30-year Cobb County veteran, highlighted the urgency of the situation.

“As Cobb County continues to grow and as storms continue to get more intense, we are going to continue to see issues,” Jones said.
