KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
A line formed outside the Nutter Ivanhoe Neighborhood Center at 37th Street and Woodland Avenue on Thursday afternoon, as people gathered to get free fresh food.

The focus is on fruits and vegetables, including homegrown produce from a garden across the street.
“I am concerned that we are going to see larger numbers of folks who are going to come, and there's just not enough,” said Alana Henry, Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council executive director.
The reason for Henry’s concern is the federal government shutdown.
Nearly 656,000 Missourians received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, money in May.
