EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A pressing topic around the country, those who use SNAP benefits may not be receiving them in November because of the government shutdown.
In light of this, the City of Evansville Commission on Food Security says they are activating its readiness plan.
That means they’re working with local partners to strengthen and expand existing programs so families who depend on SNAP can continue putting food on the table.
“As of today, the sky is not falling,” Executive Director of Feed Evansville, Lisa Vaughan said. “We’re right where we were a month ago with those households and those businesses. So we are preparing for if we have that hardship starting next week because those SNAP dollars would normally hit those EBT cards come Monday the third, you know, traditionally,
