ST. GEORGE, La. (WAFB) - The city of St. George will begin handling its own public works services starting November 1, taking on more than 2,400 backlogged work orders that have accumulated over the years, according to Mayor Dustin Yates.

Landon Tims, the city’s first-ever director of public works, has been on the job for five weeks and is already planning how to tackle the massive workload.

“There’s about eighteen hundred work orders that have been backed up and backlogged here in the city, and so what we’re looking to try and do is just prioritize those by need in terms of safety and just making sure that each one is taken care of in a timely manner,” Tims said.
