WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The man who shot a Washington state trooper while he was sitting in his marked patrol vehicle in 2022 was sentenced to just over 25.5 years in prison on Thursday.
Brandon O’Neel previously pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting Trooper Dean Atkinson Jr. in the face and hand on Sept. 22, 2022. He was sentenced to 309 months, with credit of time served already.
On Sept. 22, O'Neel was served an eviction notice . There was a note on his door with the following sentence underlined: "Evict me an [sic] I will execute any cop or manager you send period," according to probable cause documents.
