PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) - Mercer County officials are taking a step in the right direction for future disasters, staying a few steps ahead of the game to help their neighbors.
Damage from past disasters, especially the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, led the Mercer County Director of Emergency Services to presenting a Memorandum of Understanding.
The MOU will establish guidelines for cooperation and coordination in the event of public health incidents, emergencies and day-to-day operations. It was presented to the Bluefield Board of Directors.
Keith Gunnoe, the Director of Mercer County Emergency Services, gave examples to how this system would work.
