The Somerset County sheriff was charged this week after he made sexual comments to a 15-year-old girl and tried to photograph her beside condoms during a “Shop With a Cop” event last year, according to the Office of the Attorney General.

The Office of the Attorney General on Thursday charged Dustin Weir, who has worked with the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office since 2001, with corruption of minors.

During the December 2024 event at a Walmart, Weir pressured the teenage girl, who was working at a photo booth, to follow him to the aisle where condoms were sold, according to a press release.

While in the aisle, Weir made sexual remarks to the girl and asked her if she had ever used condoms or had sex yet, the release said. Weir also told the girl what he would do if he were her boyfriend.
