A group of Huntsville students showcased their special abilities through an adaptive baseball tournament. On Tuesday, Josiah John's adaptive baseball team at Sparkman High School hosted the event for schools across North Alabama.

“It’s just an amazing feeling to be able to see individuals that we don't necessarily see do these type of things but we know they are capable of. That's why we are really trying to push them towards it,” John the Sparkman adaptive P.E. coach said.

He introduced baseball to fill a gap in sports offerings for special needs students. Sparkman senior Vitaly Goerling and his teammates spent weeks practicing for this special event.

"They love to be baseball players just like anyone else,” Vitaly’s dad Tom Goerling said, “they really enjoy being out there.”
