PIKESVILLE, Md. —
Wednesday marked a night of celebration at North Oaks Senior Living in Pikesville, Maryland, which is a Baltimore suburb.
Edith Sherr, 101, was among eight residents honored as they celebrated birthdays of 100 years old or more. She told sister station WBAL about what the honor means and the secrets to living a long life.
"I think it's mostly luck," Sherr said. "We all ate right and didn't drink and didn't smoke and didn't this and that. We were lucky. I really think it has a lot to do with luck."
Sherr, who was born on May 4, 1924, said people should always be hopeful and work hard. And, having seen the world when it was typewriters and telegrams, she doesn't quite understand artificial intelligence — but she's trying to learn.
