LA VERKIN, Utah (ABC4) — A paraglider is dead following a crash in Confluence Park in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve near La Verkin.
According to Lucas Alfred, Public Information Officer with Washington County Sheriff's Office, they received the call around 5:45 p.m. on October 30, reporting that a parachuter hit a power line. Later, first responders learned it was a male paraglider.
Lifesaving measures were taken, but the paraglider died on scene. Alfred said that they have not identified the victim at this time, but when they do, they will not be releasing his identity until family or next of kin is contacted.
Reportedly, detectives are en route, and this is an active investigation.
