PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Blanchet House, a nonprofit organization in Northwest Portland, said recently, it’s experiencing the longest lines for meals it has seen in years.
“October has just been really unreal in terms of the number of people coming to us for meals,” said Scott Kerman, Executive Director of Blanchet House.
The Blanchet House serves hot meals to people in need three times a day, Monday through Saturday. The nonprofit also supplies people with clothes, hygiene products, pet food and other necessities.
Kerman told FOX 12 that they haven’t experienced a need for food like this since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It’s only October and Blanchet House has already served an additional 30,000 meals compared to the entirety of last year.
And as millions of Americans
