LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – A breast cancer awareness event at Viterbo University gave students a hands-on look at what early detection really means.
Emplify Health by Gundersen brought its breast exam simulator to campus Wednesday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The model allows participants to feel what a lump might actually be like, helping them understand what to look for during a self-exam.
Kathy Kautza, a standardized patient with the Integrated Center for Education at Emplify Health, said the simulation is about education and empowerment.
"We utilize our breast trainer for our residents and some of our staff to learn how to do a proper breast exam, as well as make sure that they know how to find a lump in their breast," Kautza said. "Breast cancer can occur in both m
