OTTAWA - Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre spoke to young Canadians at a Toronto event, asserting that the Liberal government is jeopardizing their future. Standing behind a podium adorned with the slogan "Jobs. Homes. Hope.," Poilievre criticized Prime Minister Mark Carney for failing to negotiate an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump to eliminate tariffs.

During his address, Poilievre also took issue with Carney's recent remarks at the University of Ottawa. Carney had claimed that the upcoming fall budget would lead to "unprecedented" private sector investments, but he cautioned that sacrifices would be necessary. He noted that while the economy is currently stable, it faces growing pressures if immediate action is not taken. Carney emphasized that his plan would include "generational investments."

Poilievre argued that young people have made greater sacrifices than previous generations due to what he termed "Liberal policies." He pledged that a Conservative government would focus on reducing unemployment and making housing more affordable. He reiterated several traditional Conservative policies, including repealing anti-development regulations, eliminating the industrial carbon tax, cutting taxes, and limiting government spending, all aimed at benefiting young Canadians.

"Mr. Carney, the young people in this room and across this country have already sacrificed enough," Poilievre stated. "They have worked hard, they’ve done everything right, and they deserve a bright future of homes, jobs, and hope."

As the federal budget approaches, the Conservative Party has begun sending fundraising emails to supporters, suggesting the possibility of an early election and urging the party to be prepared. Several Conservative MPs, including Eric Melillo, Jonathan Rowe, and Melissa Lantsman, were present at the event.

Many young attendees stood behind Poilievre, holding signs with messages like "Don't sacrifice my future." Poilievre concluded by asserting, "Canada’s youth are the best and the brightest in the world, and they deserve a future to match that."
