The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate a homicide that occurred earlier this week. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, around 12:10 p.m., South Bend Police received a report of shots fired in the 500 block of W. Colfax Avenue. Moments later, officers were advised of a man down in the same area. Upon arrival, officers located a male, Brien Franklin Jr., 37, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling this investigation.
