President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Patel Chowk, New Delhi, this morning. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at his statue.

Today marks the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The day is also observed as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

Every year on 31st October, the country commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is a pivotal figure in India’s struggle for independence and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country.
