The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday dispelled false reports claiming that Ashlee Buzzard, the mother of missing 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard, had been arrested.
“This case remains a missing person investigation,” said a sheriff’s office spokesperson. “There have been no arrests made in this case.”
In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said detectives, with assistance from the FBI, served additional search warrants at the family’s home on Mars Avenue in Vandenberg Village, as well as at a storage locker and for the rental car last seen in connection with the case.
The update followed a wave of posts suggesting that Melodee’s mother was taken into custody.
