NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Melissa is 260-miles west-southwest of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 105-mph along with its hurricane-force winds extending outward from the center up to 80-miles and its tropical-storm-force winds up to 255-miles.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Bermuda.
The National Hurricane Center says that "Melissa is moving rapidly toward the northeast near 32-mph then an even faster motion toward the northeast is expected into Saturday. A gradual turn toward the east-northeast is expected on Sunday."
The NHC forecasts that the center of Melissa will pass to the northwest of Bermuda come Thursday night and pass south of the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland Friday night where it will bring heavy rain and gusty winds.
