Another section of Newnan’s LINC is one step closer to fruition after the city won a Transportation Alternatives grant for planning and engineering for a new three-mile segment.
Assistant City Manager Hasco Craver told council members at their meeting Tuesday that the city won $785,064 in federal funding through the Georgia Department of Transportation program. The city’s required match would be $196,266.
“It is engineering to connect LINC facilities from the back of Walmart on Newnan Crossing Boulevard East all the way down to Piedmont Hospital,” Craver said. “It will connect to existing trail, but then offer opportunities for all those neighborhoods and commercial facilities up and down that section, that part of town, to be connected to LINC.”
