TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The week southern Georgia football fans have been waiting for is finally here: Winnersville week. The Winnersville Classic, set to kickoff at 8 p.m. on Friday, pits Lowndes (9-0) and Valdosta (8-1) against each other for their yearly cross-town clash.
Friday’s contest will mark the 58th Winnersville Classic. Valdosta holds 35-22 edge in the classic.
Bragging rights are always up for grabs in this game, but as seems to be the case during each meeting, a 6A region championship is on the line. The Vikings control their destiny, just needing a win in the game. The Wildcats will need a win plus a Colquitt County loss to claim the region.
Valdosta gets the hosting honors this year as the team welcomes the undefeated Vikings to “Death Valley” at Bazemore-Hyder Stadiu
