(Sartell, MN) -- The Sartell Sabres captured their first State Volleyball Tournament berth in 48 years Thursday, defeating Alexandria in four sets to win the Section 8AAAA Championship.
A balanced attack helped to pace Sartell to its 20th victory in 2025, with the guarantee of more matches in the Minnesota State High School League's Girls' Volleyball State Tournament that begins November 5th. Seniors Olivia Terhune and Gabby Schulte slammed 18 and 13 kills, respectively. Junior outside hitter Kaiya Schumann added 15 kills, including a few back row attacks against Alexandria's defense. Sophomore Kate Thompson dished out 47 assists.
Though the Sabres served up only five aces throughout the match, Sartell made a concerted effort to serve away from the Cardinals'
