MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The Toronto Blue Jays are one win away from their first World Series title since 1993.

On Wednesday, they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 in Game 5, powered by strong performances from former New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Blue Jays' AA affiliate.

Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led off the game with back-to-back home runs. Schneider played for New Hampshire in 2022, and Guerrero in 2018.

Toronto starting pitcher Trey Yesavage made history, becoming the first rookie to ever throw 12 strikeouts in a World Series game. The 22-year-old pitched seven innings, allowing just one run and three hits. Yesavage pitched for the Fisher Cats this past summer.
